Scripture Focus: Efeso 3:7-21
of which I was made a servant, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power. To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all men see what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now through the assembly the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord; in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him. Therefore I ask that you may not lose heart at my troubles for you, which are your glory. For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

Study:
Paul’s letter to the Ephesians reveals the profound grace and power of God at work in believers. In these verses, Paul reflects on his role as a servant called by God’s grace to share the “unsearchable riches of Christ.” He highlights that God’s eternal purpose was to reveal His manifold wisdom, not only to people but also to spiritual powers in heavenly realms. The passage emphasizes the confidence we have to approach God boldly through faith in Jesus. Paul prays for believers to be strengthened inwardly by the Holy Spirit, that Christ may dwell in their hearts, and that they would grasp the vastness of Christ’s love — a love that surpasses human knowledge. The chapter culminates in praise to God, who is able to do far beyond anything we ask or imagine, empowered by His might working within us.
Application:
Today, this passage encourages us to put our trust in the powerful work of God within us. No matter our challenges or doubts, God’s Spirit strengthens our inner being with power beyond our understanding. We can approach God with confidence, knowing that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. This assurance calls us to remain rooted in love and open to the Spirit’s work, trusting that God will reveal His wisdom in and through our lives. When we remember the vastness of Christ’s love and God’s limitless power, it inspires perseverance, faith, and hope in our daily walk.
Reflection Questions:
- How do I experience God’s power working within me in difficult times?
- In what ways can I be more confident in approaching God through faith?
- What does it mean to be rooted and grounded in love in my daily life?
- How can understanding the vastness of Christ’s love impact my relationships with others?
- Am I open to the Spirit’s strengthening and guidance in my inward being?
Prayer:
Father God, thank You for the immeasurable power You work within us through Your Spirit. Help us to be confident in Your grace and love, rooted deeply in Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge. Strengthen us daily so that we may live boldly, reflecting Your wisdom and glory to the world. To You be all praise and honor forever. Amen.
