Scripture Focus: 1 Timoteo 6:11-16

But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. I command you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession, that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ; which in its own times he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.

Study:

This passage from 1 Timothy calls believers to pursue a life marked by righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. It emphasizes the importance of "fighting the good fight of faith" and holding firmly to eternal life. The "good confession" referenced here refers both to the public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and the call to live a blameless and obedient life until His return. Paul reminds Timothy of Jesus' own confession before Pontius Pilate, underscoring Jesus’ authority as the King of kings and Lord of lords. This confession is not a simple statement but a lifelong commitment to living according to God’s standards while anticipating Christ’s glorious appearing.

Application:

In our daily walk, we are encouraged to actively avoid things that draw us away from God and instead seek to embody the qualities that reflect Christ’s character. Making the good confession means more than words—it involves a commitment to persevere in faith despite challenges. By living blamelessly and obediently, we honor Christ and prepare ourselves for His return. Today, we can examine our lives to ensure we are faithfully following this call, holding fast to the truth and love of Jesus in all situations, and boldly confessing Him as Lord.

Reflection Questions:

  • What does it mean to "fight the good fight of faith" in your life right now?
  • How can you cultivate righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness daily?
  • In what ways are you publicly confessing your faith in Jesus?
  • Are there areas in your life falling short of the blameless standard Paul describes?
  • How does remembering Jesus’ confession before Pontius Pilate inspire your own boldness in faith?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, help me to make the good confession with my life and my words. Strengthen me to pursue righteousness and faithfulness each day. Keep me blameless and obedient as I wait eagerly for Your return. May my life honor You as the King of kings and Lord of lords. Amen.
